Applying Mindfulness to Addiction Therapy
Hi, I’m Danny Workman. I created Applying Mindfulness to Addiction Therapy because I’ve seen firsthand how powerful mindfulness and meditation can be in supporting recovery. I’ve been sober for over eight years, and mindfulness has been a central part of that journey. I’m a certified mindfulness teacher, a regular meditator, and someone who knows what it means to walk the path of healing—step by step.
For years, I’ve been teaching mindfulness and relapse prevention in a way that’s grounded in compassion, kindness to ourselves and others, acceptance, and healing. This work isn’t about fixing what’s broken—it’s about learning to meet our experience with awareness and care.
This program comes from a deep belief that transformation doesn’t come from shame or pressure, but from connection and presence. My approach is shaped by both lived experience and professional study, and my hope is to offer something that’s as practical as it is heartfelt.
What you’ll find here isn’t just a set of techniques—it’s a path of practice. One that honors each person’s unique experience and invites us to grow with honesty, courage, and gentleness.
This mindfulness-based program is designed to be flexible and accessible, whether you're in a residential treatment setting, participating in aftercare, or practicing on your own. It meets you where you are—whether you're new to meditation or have years of experience. The practices are simple, supportive, and grounded in real-life recovery, helping you build inner stability, self-awareness, and compassion at any stage of your healing journey.

"This program is based in San Antonio, Texas, and can be offered in person for those nearby. It’s also available online, making it accessible from anywhere. For residential treatment centers, it can be integrated as a supportive resource, complementing existing therapy with mindfulness-based tools that help clients deepen awareness, build emotional resilience, and support lasting recovery. I’m also available for one-on-one coaching, offering personalized support for individuals in recovery as well as clinicians looking to integrate mindfulness into their work."

Our partnership
"My approach is rooted in partnership—I work alongside clients, not above them. Whether you're navigating recovery, burnout, or just trying to reconnect with yourself, this work is about building awareness together. Whether it's part of a residential program, outpatient setting, aftercare, one-on-one coaching, or group facilitation, we meet in the spirit of shared commitment. This is a compassionate healing journey we walk together—with non-judgmental awareness, beginning again and again with a beginner’s mind. That’s where real insight, growth, and lasting change can take root."
